Every month I anxiously await for the newest issue of Lucky Magazine to come in the mail. Filled with everything from a plethora of style tips, hundreds of accessories and shoes to outfits that take you from the Beach to the Ballroom... this fashion mag has it all. This month however as I was flipping through, the word, "Fashion Truck" caught my eye.
These "Boutiques on Wheels" are a part of a new wave of pop-up shops that take the concept further to
offer a fun and unique retail experience. What used to be a delivery truck has been completely revamped inside and out to model that of a glamorous boudoir or dressing area filled with clothes, shoes and accessories. The concept is hardly novel — mobile shops of one kind or another have been
around for years (think of the old milk trucks and dry-cleaner delivery services
of the last century)
David Wolfe, creative director of the New York trend forecasting firm quotes "It's an idea that's absolutely ripe for exploitation at the moment.Shoppers are exhausted by the traditional venues, the whole
world is 'over-retailed' to beat the band. It's not like the merchandise is any
different, but the setting is unexpected, funky, weird and young. And definitely
not serious."
To be described as “the world’s first luxury treasure chest on wheels”, these Fashion Trucks will be rolling into driveways; touching down at food festivals; and full-fledged runway
shows staged on the backs of flatbed trucks.
My jaw dropped at the simple genius of it all. Brilliant!!!
